I like incorporating new practices into my life as naturally as possible rather than to force anything which can involve setting aside a designated time in my already full day. Here is my tip to make gratitude a feeling that bubbles forth on a regular basis:
Press the Pause Button
This is a moment when you just stop whatever you are doing and breathe a deep breath.
One deep breath gives you a chance to notice. With that one chance, allow something to bubble forth for which you are grateful. That’s it. That’s all there is to it. This is a natural and organic process which requires not extra time out of your day.
If you truly want gratitude in your life, be thankful that gratitude is already in your heart. It’s in the pause moments that you’ll find it. When you find it, express it. Gratitude is profound. It’s as simple as thanking the bus driver as you exit the bus, or your dental hygienist who works so hard to clean your teeth, or a cashier at the checkout counter. How about acknowledging something our loved ones do for us every day but we had been taking it for granted? This is so simple yet the impact is deep and far reaching.
To me it’s amazing when I see that one single feeling, the feeling and expressing of gratitude has the power to transform us which creates a ripple effect. One sincere thank you at a time can change our world.
I would like to finish by expressing gratitude to everyone reading this blog and to my wonderful partner, Joe.
