For several months I had been experiencing chronic neck and back pain that seemed to come from nowhere. I didn't have any injuries to speak of. I went through a laundry list of what I thought might be the problem. First I bought a new pillow, then a new mattress. Still, I had trouble. I spent over $1,000 in body work within a few months time. I was desperate. In fact, the pain was so troublesome at times where I felt like I was going to vomit and I would get consistent headaches. I thought, wow, something is really wrong here. And it was. I finally realized that I wasn't listening to my needs in a particular situation and the result was my body was screaming at me.
Physical cues can be huge clues in life. Our perception comes from our bodies. We are perceiving and taking information all the time. We in fact, know the answer, to pretty much all of our problems. Are we willing to listen is the question.
Stress can manifest not only physically but emotionally as well. Anxiety and depression are emotional cues that we are under a lot of stress.
Truth be told we are our own healers. In fact, if we can learn to listen to our bodies rather than reject them, suppress them and ignore them, we can learn to heal ourselves from the inside out. You know your body the best out of anyone. So if you are getting information, listen. Sometimes we don't want to hear what we need to do in a particular situation. But the body doesn't care, its only job is to protect you. So, when you find yourself getting frustrated next time you have a headache, stomach ache, or back ache, start noticing rather than judging and see if you can tap into your own healing power.
"There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophies." - Friedrich Nietzche
