Stories of Transformation with Life Coaching
"My coaching with Sharon was a great experience. It helped me make some much needed changes in my life. One dramatic change was the reduction of my feeling of stress at work and at home. Due to a dramatic shift in my mindset (understanding that my experience of reality came from my thoughts), I am more calm, I sleep better, and I have more energy. With far less anxiety, I listen to my body and feed it the proper nutrition instead of emotional eating. My cravings are gone. My skin looks and feels great. My digestion is no longer a problem. I am no longer bloated. I naturally lost 10 pounds. All and all, I am so much happier. Sharon, I can’t thank you enough."
What was your primary goal upon starting the life coaching program with Sharon?
I remember telling Sharon that I was on a journey of health. On this journey I had a definite destination. I thought I would learn everything about nutrition and as a result, there would be an instant change in my eating behaviors and patterns.
How did what you thought you would learn differ from what you did learn?
I came into Sharon’s office with the hope of learning about nutrition and I did. However, I also unexpectedly gained deep insights about unwanted patterns of thinking that were keeping me from living the life I wanted. One long time thought pattern that was uncovered in my sessions with Sharon was the need to be “perfect”.
Would you say these insights have been life changing?
Yes. Life-coaching with Sharon enabled me to be able to step back and pause instead of just going through automatic motions. For example, one of my old patterns was to come home from work and immediately dive into the peanut butter and chocolate without thinking. Then I would be guilt-ridden and judge myself harshly.
How did this pattern change after doing coaching with Sharon?
The pattern changed as I learned about my own thinking instead of believing that every thought I had was true. I had previously believed my thought that the peanut butter and chocolate fix would relieve my stress. The thought was that I had to indulge in order to feel better. Once I saw that this was just a thought and I didn’t have to subscribe to this old belief, everything changed.
So, what instead did you discover if that old thought wasn’t true?
The truth is that stress is a thought created feeling and the more that I see that, the less appealing it is for me to try to fix that feeling by numbing myself with food. I see now that it doesn’t really help me to stress eat, it just temporarily distracted me and reinforced the habit each time I tried to cover up how I was feeling with food.
So, what’s different for you now, Rachel?
The insights I’ve gained have had a domino effect. I have a calmer mind since I have been able to step back from my thinking and notice it. A calmer mind has led to less stress. Less stress has led to increased energy. Increased energy has led to a desire to cook and experiment more in the kitchen. More home cooking has led to healthier eating which has led to radiant skin and weight loss. Also, I am happy to report I am able to indulge in peanut butter and chocolate from a position of choice, not habit and on those occasions that I do indulge, I enjoy it guilt free. - Rachel T.
"This Truly Has Been a Life Changing Experience."
"Prior to working with Sharon in the Life Coaching Program, I never noticed what a rut I was in being stressed out, irritable and angry. Within a month or two of working with Sharon, I was feeling a lot less stress. I was no longer raging in traffic and I could take a moment to breathe. As I continued in the coaching program, I became more approachable and available. With my transformation, I now have a strong circle of friends, one of whom told me that I am not the same person I was when we first met. He said I am
much more open, less reserved and a lot more fun to be with. This has been truly an amazing and life changing experience." - Jamie
"Since joining Total Body Power almost 4 years ago, I’m down 3 pant sizes, 2 shirt sizes and 35 pounds.
But most importantly I've gained so much more, with the help of both experienced instructors that provide intense workouts and guided nutrition coaching, I now have a healthy lifestyle that has been easily maintained and I feel amazing! I've always been athletic and as a former runner I was shocked when I stepped on the scale and I was five pounds away from 200. I knew I needed to make a change and get back into the routine of working out, so I signed up for kettlebells at TBP and was hooked! I loved the efficiency and intensity of the workouts!
Later I found out that Sharon is also a certified health coach and now I definitely knew I was meant to be here. Through Sharon's guidance I made a few simple changes with my diet which included eliminating bread, cheese, diet soda, most sugar and limited my alcohol intake. I also changed to buying more organic veggies and meats. I've been able to maintain this lifestyle for two years and going strong. In addition, my body has become more lean and defined which is really cool to see! I truly believe in the holistic approach that Total Body Power offers! I’m forever grateful for Sharon and Marie - thanks for making and being apart of my healthy lifestyle!" -Laura
Gorel Lost 22 Pounds and Feels Strong and Healthy
Eight years ago I read an article in the paper about Sharon's kettlebell class and decided to give it a try. I liked the work-out from the start and it has become an important part of my life. Soon after starting, I discovered my core muscles had become stronger and the back pain I had, started to diminish and I rarely feel back pain anymore. My stamina has also improved and my skiing is now better than ever!
Last summer Sharon and Marie started their own studio offering several classes a day and now I come to 3-4 classes a week. I also joined Sharon's nutrition and weight loss class last fall and learned a lot about myself and my eating habits. Now I'm mindful about what and how much I eat. I'm not on a diet, I just eat wholesome, healthy food and use portion control! Most important, I really cut back on sugar, I have only an occasional treat nowadays. I have lost 22 pounds and I feel strong and healthy. That's a good feeling!!
Barbara Lost Weight and Gained Unshakable Confidence and Personal Power
"Working with Sharon as my coach, I started to think differently about myself, feel differently about myself and see myself in a whole new light. Instead of trying to shrink, I began to embrace my personal power, moving in the direction of strength both internally and externally.
I learned about dietary choices to promote fat loss which compliments all my hard work in the fitness classes at Total Body Power. My stomach is flat, my clothes fit better, I can see muscle definition now, and my posture is much improved." - Barbara

"I am loving life. I love how I feel. Finding Sharon, Marie and Total Body Power was a Godsend."
I am 54 years old, post menopausal, and have battled cancer twice. In March of 2013, after looking at pictures of myself from a vacation in Mexico, I finally decided it was time to take care of myself. Before starting kettlebell training with Sharon, I had already lost 45 pounds. After starting kettlebells, I decided it was time to meet with Sharon to do some 1:1 nutrition coaching. I wanted to shed those last stubborn 15 pounds.
Sharon set up a plan with me to achieve my goals. I took most of it to heart, cutting out much of the sugar in my eating, simple carbs, and dairy. I ate lean and green with one exception: I couldn't part with the alcohol (which can be turned to sugar quickly in the body).
I live for the weekends. I used to love nothing better than to hang out with friends and have a drink (which also leads to bad food choices). It was time to try cutting out the alcohol.
Just thinking about it, I felt afraid of going out and being with friends and not drinking. What I found out was that no one really cared that I was not drinking with them, it was all in my head. Instead, my friends totally supported me and what I was trying to achieve.
In the last seven weeks of not drinking, I can already feel the changes. I have more energy. I'm not as puffy or bloated. I feel clear-headed. I make better food choices. I have dropped 2 sizes in my skinny jeans. I finally feel like I'm moving in the right direction. Now, that's what I'm talking about!
Will I give up alcohol for the rest of my life? Three weeks ago, I would have said, "absolutely not!". Now, I'm not so sure, but I don't need to make that decision at this point.
I am loving life. I love how I feel. Finding Sharon, Marie and Total Body Power was a Godsend. - Lori A.
